Imperial Metal Services is a member of the Imperial Manufacturing Group and is a leading processor and distributor of flat steel products. Imperial Metal Services encompasses two long standing brands in the industry, Pointe Claire Steel and Norbel Metal Service and has facilities in Etobicoke Ontario and Pointe Claire Quebec. The company mainly processes carbon products, hot-rolled, cold rolled and coated products.
This plant expansion provides increased logistics capacity for their continued growth.
The project involved the construction of a one-storey, 25,000 sq. ft., steel and concrete building addition. The scope of work included demolition of existing structures, the implementation of mechanical and electrical systems, roofing, architectural interior finishes, as well as exterior paving and landscaping.
Careful coordination was required between the Compass team, sub-trade building partners, and Client to ensure that daily operations of their existing facility were not interrupted. The primary processing building remained occupied during this logistically challenging project, requiring careful planning and coordination.
This facility now operates 10 production lines, 3 slitters, 4 cut-to length, and 3 shears. The entire project, from deliveries and construction to integration of their expanded capacity, went smoothly and was considered a success by all project stakeholders.
