Compass was contracted as Construction Manager to complete interior renovations to the first and second floors of the PowerStream Inc. Operations Centre in Barrie. This project involved the conversion of an existing office and warehouse building into an operations centre. Given the building is LEED EB:O&M certified, special attention to waste disposal, indoor air quality as well as energy and water benchmarking was required.
Compass managed the construction of a new office environment - both open plan and private offices with high end architectural finishes, extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades, new reception desk, meeting rooms, lunchrooms, and other ancillary shared spaces. The scope of work also involved the refurbishment of an existing large skylight over the lobby atrium.
The project was completed in four phases while the building remained in operation with various departments re-locating as each phase was completed. This involved tremendous coordination between all stakeholders to ensure the project was successful and impact to daily business operations were minimized. In the end, the project was completed on time and on budget to the satisfaction of the client.
